Norbrook Laboratories holds careers event for science students

Animal Health Supplier News

Norbrook Laboratories has held an event at its premises in Newry designed to encourage science and maths students to pursue careers in the healthcare sector.

The animal health company invited more than 40 year 13 pupils from the local St Paul's High School to its facility in order to educate them on the career options open to them in the pharmaceutical industry.

It represents an extension of the longstanding association it has with the school, as it regularly provides work placement opportunities to pupils.

Mr Martin Murdock, finance director for Norbrook Laboratories, addressed the guests during the event and highlighted the variety of roles science students can pursue.

These include jobs as production chemists, engineers, study directors, technicians and analysts.

He added: "Norbrook Laboratories has a significant need for suitably educated staff with science backgrounds that are eager to learn, take responsibility and have satisfaction in their work."

Last month, the company was presented with a Queen's Award for Enterprise for the fifth time, in recognition of the recent growth of its international sales.
