Merck Millipore launches water purification device for clinical analysers

Scientific Company News

Merck Millipore has announced the launch of an all-in-one water purification system for use by biomedical labs with large-scale clinical analysers.

The company's new Elix Gulfstream Clinical water purification device utilises Elix electrodeionisation technology and enhanced reverse osmosis cartridges to offer effective performance over a long period of time.

It is capable of providing up to 100 litres per hour and 2,000 litres of clinical laboratory reagent water daily, meeting Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute standards on water purity.

This allows laboratories to avoid downtime due to an unreliable or inconsistent supply of pure water, while the long-lasting performance of its cartridges helps to cut running costs to a minimum.

Sean Murphy, Merck Millipore's lab water product manager, added: "The Elix Gulfstream Clinical system not only provides excellent water quality - it also helps laboratory managers optimise the space in their labs."

According to the Merck KGaA group's most recent fiscal report, Merck Millipore saw its revenue rise by 81 percent in 2010 following the July merger between Millipore and Merck's former performance and life science division.
