Role Overview

We are recruiting for an exciting new role with a high performance instrument provider who are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their team.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

This is a field based role covering the UK with some international travel. They have an office based in Manchester where they provide strong training for all new employees.

•  Responsible for providing service within the UK and overseas covering IRMS and EA product lines. This will include installation, repairs, preventative maintenance and training.
•  Ensure all service contract work is carried out within scope of agreement, particularly solving critical issues as efficiently and as quickly as possible
•  Organise schedule to ensure all work is completed to an excellent standard to enhance customer satisfaction.
•  Report accurate times of all onsite activities in the form of reports and expense claims
•  Provide onsite support for IRMS and EA products globally
•  Maintain a highly professional relationship with all customers ensuring customer loyalty and repeat business
•  Testing of upgrade and repairs in the factory
•  Operate in a pro-active manner to assist Product Managers and Sales to identify and develop business potential for both elemental analysis and IRMS instruments and upgrades
•  Liaise with customer support to ensure required parts are delivered to customer site in good time.
•  Develop and maintain product support documentation including manuals, engineering notes and knowledgebase documents.
•  Manage provided assets including stock, car, telephone, computer, tools etc.
•  Other duties as requested by management depending on the demands of the business.



Person Specification

•  Degree in scientific background or relevant experience
•  Experience in servicing of scientific equipment
•  Experience of delivering exceptional customer service
•  Experience of dealing with customers in a lab environment
•  Willing to travel at short notice in UK and occasionally overseas
•  Clear and confident communicator
•  Good attention to detail
•  Good logical, analytical and fault-finding abilities
•  Understanding of safety guidelines
•  Good level of computer literacy
•  Strong verbal and written communication skills
•  Good organisational skills and multiple task handling
•  Ability to work independently, remotely and self-motivate to achieve goals
•  Friendly customer focused attitude
•  Valid UK driving licence
