Role Overview

The role involves managing and co-ordinating the oligonucleotide production facility through process and people management and achieving clearly defined goals and targets in line with the company's vision, mission and values.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the performance of the production team, including recruitment, annual appraisals, goal setting, training and development.
- Contribute to longer term planning of the production function.
- Ensure that all customer orders are correctly recorded and successfully completed on a timely basis. Work with, and assist the development of, the group ERP system.
-Ensure compliance with applicable laws and statutory obligations.
-Compliance to HSE regulations and procedures, to ensure the safety of all personnel.
-Develop and maintain appropriate KPI's to highlight performance trends.
-Develop and drive an ethos of continual improvement.
-Manage cost centre spend. Produce annual budget. Ensure financial goals are met.
-Efficient management of raw material purchasing and stock control.
-Control of local capital investment, including planning and raising of capital requests to be presented to group management team.
-Ensure high level of quality including ongoing compliance with ISO 9001.
-Day to day facility management, including liaison with the University authorities.

Person Specification

- Degree in a chemistry related discipline and experience of organic chemistry
- Experience of people management, with the ability to build a high performing team
- Experience within a laboratory-based production environment, with an understanding of production processes and analytical techniques
- Understanding of ISO and HSE requirements
- IT literate and able to generate visual and meaningful KPI data.
- Understanding of ERP Business Systems
- Flexible, approachable, detail-orientated and able to liaise with various departments, communicating at all levels of the business.
