SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR (HIVE)
Reporting to: Head of Strategy/ Hive General Manager
Scope of the role:
The role of the Scientific Director is to act as scientific strategic counsel for all accounts in Hive providing in-depth scientific understanding of a product and therapy area with commercial/ market awareness to provide innovative solutions for our clients.
As an engaging storyteller and critical thinker, you will work collaboratively within the strategy team as well as with the accounts and creative teams. You will be responsible for developing key strategic insights, deep-diving into data and developing message platforms/scientific story frameworks.
You will work particularly closely with the agency's Creative Directors to ensure that content is not only true to our principles of compelling communication, but that it is also scientifically accurate, appropriately referenced and compliant with relevant codes of practice.
You are responsible for understanding your client's business requirements, developing bespoke scientific strategy solutions and growing strong client relationships.
Perceived as a trusted advisor, you'll be a leader by example, anticipating issues, developing solutions, building morale, and encouraging creativity and development.
-/ Works with other team leads (CSDs, ADs, SD etc) to create synergies and collaboration between teams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your role will include:
Strategic and Business leadership:
-/ Provides strategic counsel to incumbent clients.
-/ Holds key client and external expert relationships based on the strength of scientific insight and strategic counsel; liaises with clients to identify specific business problems and develop ideas.
-/ Co-creates the communication strategy for a given disease area or brand campaign/initiative. This includes targeting the right audience, as well as setting the context, tone and messaging of the campaign.
-/ Understands data. Creates scientific strategies based on what data can mean and that support a client's commercial objectives.
-/ Works with digital and engagement strategy teams to deliver recommendations on engagement strategy including messaging, cadence, experience and analytics
-/ Researches, analyses and combines clinical, scientific and market data, qualitative research and scientific/product knowledge to enable the wider agency team to produce innovative ideas that will reach healthcare professionals.
-/ Plans and executes research groups, workshops, planning meetings to understand and develop solutions to given problems.
-/ Keeps up to date on scientific developments within the healthcare arena and identifies communication opportunities as a result.
-/ Makes presentations to clients and agency staff at all levels.

-/ Supports the senior leadership team in identifying and meeting business objectives.
-/ Works with the senior leadership on business planning to identify the objectives required to fulfil the agency's vision.

Person Specification
Key qualifications for any candidate:
Strong scientific background and marketplace understanding
-/ Scientific research experience (PhD, MPhil etc.)
-/ Medical writing capabilities
-/ Significant experience of working within the agency setting to deliver global communications strategy to top pharmaceutical companies
-/ Strong understanding of customer engagement strategy
-/ Adept at storytelling
-/ Able to simplify and clarify complex concepts
